Armando Tena, LPC

It  was not until  the time of  the Civil Rights movement that  took  place in  our  society,  that  I  realized how  much  the external  environment affects  people's  behavior,  and  this  in  turn depends  on  different  patterns of  behavior;  namely,  the different  cultural  patterns in  our  society.  Consequently,  the social  learning  theories in  psychology have  been  the ground on  which  I base my  approach to  help  people who  may  be suffering because of  a faulty way to  adapt  to  the circumstances  surrounding  them,  Finding  the origins and  patterns  of  behavior have  been  my  approach to  help  my  clients who  come to  me  seeking  help .  Thus,   my grounding  point has been the  social  learning  theories which  are  based  on  the premise  that  behavior can  be  learned as  well as unlearned..   This  approach has helped me understand  and  treat clients suffering  from depression  and/or  undue anxiety  causing debilitating disfunctions   in  their  lives ,  such  as  phobias.  panic  attacks ,  traumatic  PTSD,,,etc.   Helping  people to  recognize and  control  negative  reactions to  critical  events  in  their   lives will  allow  them  to return  to  a  state  of  stability,   self  satisfaction,  and  happiness in  their  daily existence.
